…BASICS;
FULL NAME: Douglas Ramsey (goes by Ramsey)
CODENAME: N/A
AGE: 29
DATE OF BIRTH: 1972
HOME TOWN: Salem Center, New York.

HOME REALITY: The Not So Secret Invasion. When Doug was sixteen years old, the Kree-Skrull War exploded into Earth Space. While Earth’s heroes dispatched themselves to take care of things, Doug was one of the many humans on Earth (Doug was unaware that he was a mutant at this time) who observed the epic battle. He also was one of the unfortunate people who saw the Earth Heroes be bested by the Skrulls, and got to watch as his planet was taken over by the shape shifting aliens.

Doug’s mutant talents were discovered by the conquering alien race (after all he could understand them, thanks to his mutant granted gift of linguistics) and it was promptly decided that he’d be a lot more useful off the planet Earth. Thus began Doug’s not So Excellent Space Adventures.

FAMILY: Philip Ramsey (father), Sheila Ramsey (mother)

LIKES: Computers, video games, microwave popcorn, space travel, alien languages.
DISLIKES: the planet Earth, doing his own laundry, kids, skrulls

…POWERS;

Translation – anything at any time. Doug has the ability to read something, and have it just make sense in his brain. Languages that are spoken to him, or around him, are also translated by his brain. His powers work on a subconscious level, meaning that Doug can't really explain how he translates things, he just knows when looking at something, what it says. His mutant ability allows him to be a walking, talking code breaker as well. Just don't ask him to explain how he translated what he's translated.

He's gifted as well when it comes to computers, having the ability to understand the language that computer programs are written in.

The ability to read body language, and pick up on tells that a person is lying, annoyed, ect, that might not be obvious to a person not trained to look for such things. Body language is a kind of language after all, and it stands to reason that Doug could employ his skills in this regard. Doug hasn't ever considered this possibility, quite satisfied to mostly use his powers in the name of computers, computer programming, and translating various alien languages. He does however subconsciously use his powers -- reading peoples body language and often having a very good "intuition" about when people are bluffing.

Weaknesses: Ramsey has mutant powers yes, but he's allergic to violence. It makes him break out in blood. Basically while Doug has mutant powers they are not offensive in nature, and he breaks, bruises and bleeds easily compared to some of his more super powered mutant peers. He does not have a very physical presence, and isn't all that physically strong.

Than there is the fact that Doug is kind of an asshole. He has a huge ego, is use to other people doing things for him, and oh yes, is an ass. He isn't easy to get along with, whines a lot, and does expect other people to do things for him.
…PERSONALITY;

Doug likes order most of all; it's quite possible that he's got a touch of OCD. His things have to be in a certain order or he gets twitchy, he doesn't think that he's anal; he simply likes his things to be a certain way. He gets a little (sometimes a lot) upset when people take his things without asking, because he believes that they will invariably break the object, or not put it back in its right place. He was one of those kids who didn't like to share his toys, in case you haven't figured that out.

He also likes order and rules as imposed by himself. He doesn’t really care if other people don’t want him touching their stuff, or if other people set down rules . . . Doug is going to obey his rules, and expects others to do the same.

He has the bad habit of thinking that just because he's read about something that he can than do that thing. In other words he has a hard time differentiating between what he knows from experience and what he knows from reading a book.

Doug often comes across as a cocky arrogant guy, he's smart and he knows it, and he often makes leaps of logic that he couldn't explain to someone even if he wanted to.

Living most of his life, thinking that he was just a smart guy, and than finding out nope, those language smarts are due to the x-gene was a bit of a blow to the ego for Doug. He got over it, although he gets really annoyed still when people question his mutation, or its usefulness.

Thanks to being a King of sorts for the last few years, well Doug has gained quite the superiority complex. He is used to other people doing his bidding, and not having to do a lot for himself.
… APPEARANCE ;

There is nothing really extraordinary looking about Ramsey, he looks on the outside just like your average guy. He stands at 5"7, and is of a slight build. He doesn't look like he packs much of a punch, and that is true. He doesn't pack much of a punch. Doug's eyes are blue eyes and he has shaggy blonde hair that he can't be bothered to cut or really attempt to style.

Clothing wise, he likes jeans and t-shirts. He knows that he doesn't have offensive powers -- so he likes to wear some seriously light weight armor underneath his clothing. The concept of shoes that aren't sneakers is something that just doesn't make sense to Ramsey.

Due to the fact that he was off planet for so long, his concept of Earth styles is .. .. off. The last time he was on his version of Earth it was 1988. He has no idea what people on his version of reality might have been wearing since then. All he knows is that he loves his jeans (acid wash of course) and his T-shirts that come in some really bright colours.

…HISTORY;

The son and only child of Philip and Sheila Ramsey, Doug was born, and subsequently raised in Salem Center, New York. He had a mostly normal childhood, and the most common comment on the report cards that got sent him from school was that Doug was a very bright child, but very introverted. Had anyone asked him, he would have told him how hard it was being the guy who liked to read, who didn't like sports. And oh yeah, was short, had a Star Wars Episode Four, Mark Hamill -esque hair cut, and always seemed to be about two trends behind all the other kids. To sum up: Doug was your classic shy, nerdy kid.

It's safe to say that since Doug was their only child that Phillip and Sheila spoiled their son a bit. Doug always had the latest video game systems, and for his twelfth birthday his parents bought him a computer. He had it completely reprogrammed within a week, and then set about "fixing" his father’s computer. It was at this point that Doug's computer obsession began.

While still being a kind of nerdy kid, Doug began to break out of his shell. He made friends with Katherine “Kitty” Pryde, a girl who went to some ultra private school in Westchester. The two of them would hang out at the mall, play video games and just generally goof off. Doug developed quite a crush on Kitty, although he kept his feelings to himself.

Over time, Doug also became aquatinted with other students who had started attending classes at the school that Kitty went to. He thought they were cool, and they all seemed to get along. Really, Doug was feeling pretty content for a teenage boy . . .

And then the aliens came. Like most of the world, he found himself glued to the TV, watching as an interstellar war played out in the skies above Earth. He watched as Earth's heroes tried to intervene and watched as they were defeated by the Skrulls. Then he got to watch as his Earth became over run with the alien Skrulls, and watch as they took power.

He heard a rumor in those early days of the occupation of Earth, the rumor was that the kids that Doug had been friends with – well they had been mutants, and had had superpowers. Well Doug wasn't sure about that (they had always seemed so normal to him), but he was sure that they had disappeared in the wake of the Skrulls. He hoped that they didn't have super powers – because he hated to think that they had been disappeared. Or worse. That they had powers and were using them to hide out while the world went to hell in a hand basket.

The first clue that Doug had that he himself was amongst the set that was gifted with powers, came about the day that he realized he understood the alien languages being spoken around him. The Skrulls were the dominant race on Earth, but they had alien allies who had come to view the newly acquired Skrull planet. And Doug understood the various languages that these aliens were speaking. Before Doug could sit down and think about how he should keep this knowledge to himself – he just opened his mouth and spoke. Spoke back to the alien in their native language.

Shortly after that Doug found himself in Skrull custody, and a short time after that it had been determined that Doug was a mutant. And that his powers had to do with linguistics. Not one to look a gift mutant n the mouth, Doug was transported off world, to be used as a translator for the Skrulls in their never ending quest to expand their empire.

He worked for the Skrulls for a while – not willingly but he didn't have much of a choice after all. His end of service with the Skrull Empire came when the ship he was traveling on crashed on a planet that the Skrulls had been eyeing at conquering. Doug was the only survivor of the crash – and at first he sat back and waited for someone, anyone to come rescue him. But that was not to be. Fighting had broken out elsewhere in the worlds that the Skrulls controlled, and their attention was there, not on some backwater planet that they had lost one lone ship on. So no,there would be no “rescue” from the Skrulls for Doug.

The planet that Doug had crash landed on was not uninhabited however – and the species native to the planet (a vaguely humanoid looking race) discovered the downed Skrull ship, and Doug. They took Doug in (he had no problem communicating with them thanks to his powers) and set him up ... as a kind of king. He could speak their language after all, had come from the sky, ect. Doug played up his extraterrestrial origins, and soon was living in a lap of relative luxury.

Then .... There came the night something else crashed on the planet. Doug was getting ready to send out some people to investigate, when the Timebroker showed up and removed Doug from his reality.
…WHY;

Doug was pulled out of his reality and time stream just before he was to meet Warlock for the first time. Warlock (still on the run from his father) had crashed on the planet that Doug was residing on. However Doug was not going to help the alien, and was going to tell Warlock to keep on moving. So when Warlock eventually made it to Earth, he wasn't going to find anyone he could communicate with initially, and not be able to help the other New Mutants (who are in hiding on Earth) help overthrow the Skrulls.
